Nursing Students SRNA

Published

i've just found out about CRNA programs and i would like to go to the NYU at Buffalo. Have anybody heard about this school ? Is it hard to get there? My GPA is 3.36 and i was told that i dont have to take a GRE test if my GPA is over 3.0. I am an international student, got my degree in nursing from Tel -Aviv University and I know that I have to pass 2 more tests in order to get into the program. What can I do to increase my chances?

Thanks a lot

What type of work experience do you have in the US? You need to have at least one year of critical care experience and usually more when you graduated out of the US. Chances are that they will also require that you complete some hours here first in the Master's level as well before deciding to accept you. This is usually the case with foreign grads as well.

Also what type of visa do you hold? You need to have at least a green card in hand before you will be considered. They will not accept you with a student visa as you need the year of work experience first and they want to know that you will be able to remain in the US to work when you are done with the training.

Best of luck to you.

thanks a lot . I work at the recovery room for 3 years. Right now I dont have a visa at all. I thought that having a student visa was enough. I understand that my work exp. mast be in the US?.

Suzanne- please be aware that to be accepted into any Nurse Anesthesia program it is a requirement from the Council on Accreditation that the applicant MUST have a current, unencumbered license as a RN in one of the 50 states or protectorate of the US. No license -no admittance, period. No program director would risk losing accreditation by admitting someone without a license!
