All CRNA programs will have to have switched to doctoral programs no later than 2022, since all graduates in 2025 or later will have to have their doctorate. Also, all doctorate CRNA programs have to be at least 36 months in duration.

I wonder what effect this will have on # of applicants to anesthesia programs. If we will continue seeing a rise, or if it will level out more.

I know I plan on apply to only DNP programs. I figured it was best to get my DNP since by the time I'm done it will be so close to the deadline. Planning on applying for 2018 or 2019.

.but my work colleague at Mayo complains the first 6 months of his DNP program was actually 'rubbish'. It was moslty online classes that had no significance to the anesthesia program itself. Given that Mayo, MN just switched to a dnp program, I guess the school doesnt know what to do with the unnecessary extra months tacked on.

I do not think crnas will be mandated to go back to school. There are still diploma trained crnas working and they have not been mandated to go back to earn a MSN
