Columbia University Nurse Anesthesia Program CRNA

Nursing Students SRNA

I just wanted to make a space for people to share their application progress for Columbia University CRNA program for Summer 2016. I see that last year people started getting notified about interviews the second week of November. Good luck! (but not too much since I'm applying too ;-)

Did you get an interview spot? When?

How did the interview go? What happened?

Did you get accepted?

You can review your school as a Student, Alumni, Parent, Pre-Student, Employee, or Other. Act fast, winners will be announced next

I went to the info session and I think they don't start reviewing apps till after the deadline I could be wrong though

That's probably true. Well, I just wanted to open up a space to share info as people start to hear back. I also wanted another place to obsessively check through November.

I plan on applying after I take my GREs. How was the application process?

It was pretty standard. Just the usual tips: Get your letters of rec requests in early. The essay is two pages which is easier than the 500-word limits of other applications. Good luck, I hope I see you there ;-)

What kind of degree do they offer? MSN or DNP?

I've been in contact with the admissions office. They don't start reviewing until after the deadline, they won't even look for your GRE scores until then. Hope this helps!

Hopefully will see some of you in class next year! (fingers crossed)

I'm a recent Columbia graduate and will be selling my entire anesthesia library. Right now here's a preliminary list of texts. Only caveat is that I'd prefer to sell the entire collection.

1. Miller's Anesthesia Vol. 1 & 2 7e

2. Morgan and Mikhail's Clinical Anesthesia 5e

3. Basics of Anesthesia 6e

4. Valley Review "Sweat Book" 2015

5. Valley Memory Master 2015

6. Stoelting's Anesthesia and Co-Existing Disease 6e

7. Practical Approach to Cardiac Anesthesia 5e

8. Surgical Procedures and Anesthetic Implications 1e

9. Jaffe's Anesthesiologist Manual of Surgical Procedures 4e

My understanding is that they offer an MSN and DNP however, the DNP takes more time but is probably worth the future distinction. The AANA wants the entry to practice degree to be the DNP by 2025 and many programs are starting that transition now.

So applications were due yesterday! Has anyone heard regarding interviews? Sounds like interviews were in November last year.

Hello! I have a Skype interview tomorrow. Does anyone know anything about the interview process here?

I have an interview next week. I haven't heard anything specific but that its more personality based than clinical. Like "In a situation where XYZ happens how would you feel on a scale of 1-5". Where there is "no right answer" but really there totally is.... And then typical why CRNA, why columbia, how are you going to pay, etc.

Let us know how it goes and what they ask you.
