Hi,
I'm getting my pre-Nursing school physical soon, and I have health insurance. However, last year, when I had my physical, my doctor drew some titers and gave me a tetorifice (sp?) booster - and the insurance company denied all of it. I ended up having to pay out of pocket for the vax and the labs, and it wasn't cheap!!
Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried that it will happen again? If so, what options do I have for getting titers and vaccinations either a) covered by my insurance, or b) cheaper?
Many thanks!

Look into your local health dept. or even walgreens for vaccinations. It can be a lot cheaper. As far as titers, if you need new ones I don't know what you can do, but if you have already had titers done for anything you need, get a copy of your medical record that has those labs in them. You don't have to get them again, you just need to get a copy of it from your record.

I went to my local health dept. because I didn't have insurance at the time. For me it was $14 a shot and $118 total for 4 titers. So much cheaper than drs. office. And once you get the titers as long as they are positive for immunity you don't have to have them again just supply records.
Thanks, ladies. I'll look into the health department, just in case my call to the claims office comes back "no way".

Your old titers are good forever, just get copies of those.
