  1. I really think it depends on where you live. I'm in Texas and that is totally reasonable expectation but midwives make the same if they work through a hospital practice. I know the area I am in CNM are growing and hospitals are becoming more accepting and several free standing birth centers have popped up. My goal is a CNM and I believe from talking to other midwives that there will be a demand still by the time I graduate.
  2. This past semester has been my first semester back since becoming a mom 6 years ago. I have 5 kids ages 6, 4, 3, and 1 year old twins. It kills me to not be with them as much as I was before. I never planned on working until all of our kids were in school and then I was going to pursue nursing. Well with the economy the way it is we need me to start making a paycheck sooner so our plans have been accelerated some. My 4 year old daughter crushed my heart the other day. This is her first year in preschool and she was very upset that I could not attend either of her field trips. On the way to school the morning of her second trip she asked me if I loved her. I said of course why would she think I didn't. Her response was that all the other mommies go with their kids to the field trips and I didn't. She started crying and thought I didn't want to be with her. It was horrible to me!!! I of course explained to her that I loved her very much and that right now mommy is in school so I can become a nurse. This semester was just my pre reqs. and I am only in school M/W/F while the kid are in school too. I start nursing school in July and I will miss dinners on clinical days and probably bedtimes too for the younger kids. Even though it kills me I know I have to do it. In the end it will be better for everyone in my family. My daughter (same one that was upset) goes around telling everyone that when she gets bigger she is going to go to school and be a nurse like mommy. She even goes through scrubs catalogs and has it all planned out. So I am setting a positive example for my kids in so many ways. They will learn education is important and that sometimes things in life are not easy but you must still pursue them to get the end goal. I remind myself of that when I am feeling like worst mom of the year. And yes my house is a little messier now but I make sure that when I am home I am home and I spend time with my kids. I make the most of it. Oh and my son & daughter have had a few late assignments this year as well, especially around the times I have exams in A & P, lol.
  3. I actually got some of my old ones from walmart and love them but for clinicals they are requiring straight legs, walmarts are flared. Don't know how strict they are on this policy though.
  4. I went to my local health dept. because I didn't have insurance at the time. For me it was $14 a shot and $118 total for 4 titers. So much cheaper than drs. office. And once you get the titers as long as they are positive for immunity you don't have to have them again just supply records.
  5. Does anyone know of any good online stores that sell white scrub pants that aren't as transparent? I start nursing school in July and the pants the school offers are pretty thin, even nude underwear show. Prefer not to show my bum, lol.
  6. Have you gotten you results yet? I still haven't. I called the school today and my admissions rep. said that the school hadn't received anyone's results yet from my Feb 19th test date. Kinda nice to know that I'm not the only one in my test date that hasn't received them and I'm not singled out, but man the waiting is killing me!!
  7. I took mine Feb. 19th and I am still waiting too. It was written and I took it in San Antonio. I was told 7-10 business days which puts day 10 as Monday. I am going crazy waiting because it is the last thing I need in order to get my acceptance letter. Ugg!! Hopefully we'll both get good news soon!
