My school doesn't require a CNA license before starting the program, but you're more likely to be accepted if you have one and you have experience. You can take the state exam in MO after you've completed the first semester of an RN program. That's what one of the girls at work did.

In Ohio, you have to take the state test in order to be an STNA (they changed our official title lol). However, many of the hospitals here (I'm in Cincy) will list job requirements as "STNA or nursing student with 2 completed clinical terms preferred."

At my school, you had to obtain the STNA license before getting on the clinical list.

all the adn programs n north carolina that i'm aware of require cna cert b4 your app will even be considered for their nursing program. for the bsn folks they can take the cna cert after completing some of their courses.
