Hello everyone.

I've been working as a nurse for the past 8 months, and despite the fact that i love my job, I really want to go back to school. I work in New York and I was wondering if any of you would know what to do to become a OB/GYN nurse practitioner, or NP specialized in woman's health. I also really really wanted to become a midwife, but I don't have any experience in maternity nurse. I'm currently working in pediatrics, but I'm not sure if i could do it as an NP. I want to continue my education since I feel like i want to do more than a bachelors but I feel kind of lost and I don't know who could guide me.

Thank you in advance.

My advice would be use the next few years to gain valuable RN experience and expand your repertoire. Working in the areas, such as mother/baby, as a RN will give you insight into what area you would like to dedicate the significant money and time required to become an APRN. Unfortunately it seems the current trend is to sign up for grad school and become a NP without a real clue as to what someone wants to do and I think that is foolish. Take your time and enjoy being a RN while you find your sea legs. :)
