Herzing University FNP program?

This program is now CCNE accredited as of yesterday. I was wondering if there is anyone who is currently in this program or if anyone has any opinions on it (besides the "FNP should not be online" opinions). This program seems to be something that could work well for me and is less expensive than other programs I have looked at; however, they are fairly new and this makes me a little nervous. Anyone know anything?

Hi RNBSNN, sorry for the delay.....lots of reading/studying...lots of papers! There are some lectures...pharmacology had a lot, which I didn't mind..it's closest to being in a classroom. Also, I have mentioned before have your preceptors lined up for Adult healthcare, women's, pediatric, and geriatrics rotation! If you are unable to provide one there is a big chance that they will delay graduation by a semester....I don't think any other online school is different...there are 1-2 discussions each week that requires 200 words each and then the response questions to two of your classmates. Sometimes there are quizzes, some are timed...but they aren't bad. I wouldn't stop looking here, if you have any other schools in mind....research it! Good Luck!

Reyval04, BSN,

Just wondering how the Herzing FNP program is treating you now that you should be in clinicals???

I am to start the FNP program at Herzing on 9/5/2017. For grads and current Herzing students, if you had to choose again, would you choose Herzing? I am so nervous I am making the wrong choice. However, my only other choice was Chamberlain and I have read not so good reviews. I need honest opinions about Herzing's FNP program. Thank you!

Hi! Just wondering if you decided to go with Herzing afterall and if so how it is going? Looking to start their program in January 2018. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi TLOVELYRN,

I was wondering how you like the FNP program so far? Have you started looking for preceptors, and if so, any words of wisdom? I'm considering starting in the fall of '18 and would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks! :)

Hello, I noticed you have been in the program for some time. Can you let me know how you like the program? Pros and cons

Hello All,

I am due to start Herzing University FNP program May 7th.

I'm curious if anyone has any feedback regarding the program.

Thanks in advance!

I know you only started one month ago...but how is it going? I am due to start next term which begins July 7th!

Did you get any answers about feedback?

Hey RN911MSN, BSN, MSN,

Well.... Its okay. I am in week 5 of the program and it seems every week I have run into a hiccup.

The first week - the funding department miscalculated my payment plan. I am paying as I go.. The initial calculation was 2,050 - which didn't seem quite right.. I sent them an email .. several hours later they responded saying it was a human error and the actual monthly breakdown is 2,550. Quite a considerable difference when attempting to figure out a budget.

Week Two, I found out most of the links the instructors post in the courses are "broken" or taken down by the original websites. One instructor posted under the announcement section "this assignment is open book, you may submit it unlimited times until the due date". Which seemed odd as it was a 5-7 page paper. So, I emailed the instructor - his response to the email was " error". And he did not take down the misleading announcement.

Week three - I was sent an email by an administrator stating that I was deficient with my health records being loaded into the Castlebranch program. The email which I rec'd on a Monday threatened that if I did not complete the requirements by Friday, I risked being removed from the clinical placement that I had set up! The week prior I received an email stating these requirements did not need to be completed until AUGUST! Several hours later the email was redacted and the author apologized for any "undue stress she imposed".

Week Four - I attempted to make a tuition payment via the online payment center. I attempted several times and received an error message. After a 20 minute wait the rep from the education funding department stated the online payment section was down" - when I asked why they hadn't put up an announcement so everyone is aware the rep stated " well, its down for most people, not everyone". Really......?

If it was a restaurant - I should be getting free appetizers and drinks. Literally, every week someone does not do their job. That being said --- I feel like with any program I would encounter this. It just depends how much crap you're willing to put up with. Just for 50k I thought there would be far less.

So far I am enjoying the courses and have been able to maintain a full-time work schedule.

Ughh...Ok. Good to know. I will be starting soon, next month actually. They took 6 credit transfers for me from my MSN, which is helpful. What classes are you taking currently aadavis1? Are you full time or part time student? And thanks for your input, anything is helpful right now to make me feel like I am making the right decision by attending Herzing. I saw that they have a 36% graduation rate and 39% retention rate.
