I have an Unsubsidized Stafford loan for Spring semester. How does this work? I know I can use it for books and supplies, but how do I get the money? It says it will be disbursed to my school and after my tuition is paid I can request a check to buy books, etc. By the time this happens, classes will have already started! Am I just not understanding the process? There is not even a phone number with my loan info to contact anyone :angryfire
Can anyone help me? :uhoh21:

Try calling your financial aid office. Can you put it on a credit card and then pay the credit card when you pick up the check?

I don't know if this is how all schools do it. Your financial aid office should be able to provide you more details.
Hope this helps.

Go ask at financial aid. We have to go to the Bursar's office and get some of our loan put on our school account. Our school account can be used to eat, make copies, and buy at the bookstore. They subract your estimated fees and tuition and let you have as much as you need up to what is left on your account.
