Student with ADHD

Published

Hi

I was wondering if any nurses or fellow students had ADHD? I am diagnosed with ADHD and was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips? How do you cope?

I know others work with it however it feels very isolating as a student and not knowing other students who have it.

Medication was necessary in school. I work in psych, and I really don't care to take it now, but my work does suffer. If I don't write things down immediately, I don't remember to do it / pass it on / document it. Also I must have checklists. I have a very supportive work-partner (psych often works in teams of two nurses), and that is incredibly helpful.

Addendum: I take my meds now. Needed a good combo. It helps tremendously. But I still forget a lot of stuff.

Hi, RN for 26 years. I have ADD. I find that I can get a little overwhelmed at times.
