STUCK in home care.

Published

I've been out of school for about two years now and working as an RN in home care for about a year and a half. I want to work in a hospital, but have not been able to get into one. I've applied to many positions and have had some interviews, but all the feedback was the same. They are not interested in hiring someone with no hospital experience. I've tried nursing homes and many other types of places. I even got my license in a neighboring state, hoping that it would help, but it's the same issue.

I am currently at a crossroads in what I want to do career wise. Do I keep applying and hope something comes along or do I start looking for a position in a nonclinical setting and if so what are some options? I could really use some advice as to what I should do. I feel stuck working in home care, not that I don't appreciate having a job and feel lucky to have it, but it is also not exactly what I want to be doing. I also, do not feel it offers much in moving up in my career. I want to go back to school eventually and get my masters, but I feel being in home care limits me.

The only advice I can offer is to be persistent. Something has to give sometime, especially since you are open to relocation. Good luck.

In the same boat trying to get out of home care just hit a yr in here and see this isn't what I want to do for the rest of my life and they don't offer tuition reimbursement summer is coming hope sure hospitals are probably going to look for new nurses and have positions that are not asking for much exp
