The school I am applying to requires a computers class as a pre req, and I am almost failing, I'm constantly fighting to maintain a C. I feel really discouraged...I did really well in all my previous semesters, I had a 3.8 gpa previously!! I think a big part of it is the teacher, she doesn't explain things well (my other classmates agree) and expects us to just know the material already even though it is a beginners class. After this semester I will be ready to apply for the fall 2014 class but I'm afraid this class will throw off my chances. But then if I drop and retake it in the spring I will miss the deadline for the fall program. What would you do?

Ive had to teach myself. Go online and find other teachers that teach on videos from other colleges for that subject. Usually it helps to watch those. I had to do my Chemistry class that way. THen read and reread the book on your own. Anything she can teach you in class...you can teach yourself. Just find the topic and start reading. It is a lot of work but if you get stuck with a horrible teacher...you have to take charge. I would always do your best to read up on the teachers from now on if you can! I know it doesnt always help but usually does!!

Is there a textbook? We had to take a Microsoft office class for our program & I just followed along in the book for everything. I ended up with a B+. Don't drop it if it'll affect when you can apply. Just keep trying!!!

Use the Internet and other classmates as a resource. If your school offers a tutoring program, utilize it! There is no shame in asking for help with a subject you are struggling with. If your semesters are like my school, you're probably about half way through the class. I highly recommend sticking it out and trying to use additional resources for help. You CAN do it!!! You don't want to set yourself back an entire semester if you drop the class now and retake it later. Keep your eye on the prize! Good luck!

There are tons of videos on YouTube if you search "beginning computer lessons" or "beginning computing" it comes up with lots of stuff. Depending on what, exactly, you're supposed to be learning, you can put that in the search bar, too. Don't give up, there are ways!
