  1. I took Cultural Anthropology this semester as an online 8 week course (Aug-Oct) and I loved it. I'll be taking Speech as an online 8 week class for the Spring semester (have to go to the school 4 times to give speeches). I think it all depends on what kind of student you are, and if you're up for the extra work. I enjoy a fast paced environment so it works for me. With my 8 week classes, I also take a full semester (16 week) online class as well (Lifespan Dev. this semester, and Ethics for Spring). I work full time and have no children.
  2. Wow - ant2cory! I just checked out that website from your teacher. I'm going to be taking A&P again this Fall (took it once before and got a B...but the nursing program I want to get into requires A&P classes within the last 5 years so I have to take it again). Looks like I'll utilize that website as a refresher! Thanks!
  3. Use the Internet and other classmates as a resource. If your school offers a tutoring program, utilize it! There is no shame in asking for help with a subject you are struggling with. If your semesters are like my school, you're probably about half way through the class. I highly recommend sticking it out and trying to use additional resources for help. You CAN do it!!! You don't want to set yourself back an entire semester if you drop the class now and retake it later. Keep your eye on the prize! Good luck!
  4. Thank you for your comments. It's truly inspiring to hear others descrbie their passion. I should have noted before that I'm 30 now, and will probably be 33 when I start the BSN program (God willing!!) :)
  5. The reason I've decided to pursue nursing is two-fold. I have many family members that are nurses. Some chose nursing as their first (and only) career, and others went back to school in adulthood. I've always found it a fascinating profession. The second reason I have decided to pursue nursing was due to my involvement in a rescue operation at a boating accident last year. I ended up being one of the first on scene to a deadly crash. I walked away from that day with a deeper appreciation for life in general and a strong desire to actually HELP people. I'm currently taking pre-reqs and am hoping to start a BSN program in a couple years (I work a very busy FT job and will only be able to take 1 or 2 pre reqs a semester.) How do you know that becoming a nurse is the "Right" thing to do? Thanks for any thoughts!!
