Stressed LPN

Published

I am currently working at a facility where we have one nurse per shift for the 3 floors and 2 RNs that sit in the office. Some days are decent but some days can get really bad! I am the constant go to for everything. Continually questioned and called on by staff, patients, family, etc. while the other 2 nurses keep their door closed “working”. There have been times when they have witnessed the overload of work and even commented “how crazy the day is”. I had recently taken vacation and upon my return was told they do not know how I do it. I am stressed out, continual headaches.. really thinking about quitting!

I've been in the same situation, and I know how it feels. People are aware of what they're doing, but they simply don't care. It's really disgusting how some healthcare facilities operate. I used to keep silent and just go with the flow until I finally told myself one day that I've had enough! No job/employer is worth your mental health. If your concerns go unheard, just pick up and move on to the next opportunity! Healthcare workers should uplift one another. Unfortunately, in some cases it's impossible because some people are concerned with the QUANTITY of patients and not the QUALITY of care that is needed for those patients. Just remember YOU ALL ROCK!! ?

I was sick of being told I could handle 30-40 residents and went traveling. The system is going to collapse because of corporate greed. They only have themselves to blame for years of short staffing and low pay. But mostly about the disrespect given to staff, no amount of pizza makes up for overwhelmed staff.
