Hi everyone!
The application window is finally closed for the two-year BS nursing program at Stony Brook. So I wanted to make this thread because I haven't seen one. Let's stay in touch during this process. I wish everyone success during their journey.

That's good to hear! I just got my acceptance letter for the LPN program at Suffolk. Suffolk sent out their acceptance letters early and I saved my seat but they are asking me to set up accounts and really get things going but I have not heard from Stonybrook yet.
Congratulations on your acceptance into the LPN program. I know they ask for the background check pretty soon. Did stony Brook let you know when to expect acceptances to go out ?

Thank you! How are the professors in the LPN program? Are they really helpful? Im actually really excited. Yea, they did ask for that. I just finished ordering it. Everyone kept saying 6-8 weeks but then someone on here said we won't get an answer around April or May.

The professors are really good ! They really want you to succeed and give you all the tools too. I really like the program . I know some people think LPN programs aren't as hard as RN's but Suffolk holds us to the same standard as their RN program, we just learn within the scope of our practice. I like the course-load as we only take two classes a semester. The first semester is really good as you don't have any clinical classes so you're able to get used to nursing school, ATI and all the extra work given.

That sounds great! I did notice clinical were towards the end. Did you finish in 4 semesters? There are like 3 classes that I took already and if I'm right I can finish in 3 semesters. I just have to ask and confirm that. How were your classmates? Did you guys help each other out?

Yes ! So if you have psychology 101, English 101 and I believe the bio class or A&P 1 + 2 then you would start in the second semester. I already had all of my prerequisites finished when I applied so I started in the second semester of the program. So my first semester I took just pharmacology and foundations , but I know some people who were missing one or two classes who took them in the Summer or while taking pharm and foundations. And yes Clinical's you only have in the 3 and 4th semester ! As far as the students , everyone I've met has been really nice. There are some who are rude but I wouldn't let it bother me. I've met some of my best friends from the program. Everyone is eager to learn and help each other because we all understand how it is to go through it together. We study together, practice our lab skills together and even have group chats to make sure everyone's up on time for Clinical's. If you decide to do the program I'm sure you'll like it.
