anyone every go thru the new grad residency program at stony brook? what unit? any in critical care? whatd you think
I hope you all had luck with finding the right career paths! I know this post is dated, but I am a new grad rn bsn with an interview at sb for a CACU position. I also have an offer from st. Francis hospital. I know the benefits are tremendous at sbu but the pay from what I've researched is on the low side. For any of you working for sb, what are the benefits To working there? Do you like it? Is the pay comparable to other hospitals? Thanks for any advice anyone can provide!
I've heard the CACU there is pretty intense, workloadwise and managementwise. They are often understaffed and ratios are higher than they should be. Almost interviewed there when I was on another unit but I turned down the invite when I got the honest opinion of a former staff RN there. You're better off at St. Francis IMHO. Yes the benefits were nice esp health ins but 10 years to vest your pension? No thanks.
