Stony Brook BSN 2019-2021

Published

Hey guys,

I applied to the Stony Brook BSN program a few weeks ago. I just wanted to start a thread so we can keep each other updated and answer any questions. Anyone else apply?

Good luck everyone!

I had the interview today. They said that they are accepting only 65 students this year because they already picked 15 honor students based on their SATs. Now, I'm worried that there are only 65 spots instead of 80 seats. I really hope to get into the stony brook University.

Did they happen to say if all interview invitations went out?

Hi,

I have not gotten any emails, so I’ve accepted the worst, but people I know who have applied for Fall 2019 have gotten rejection emails? Is the accurate info that they will send them out until April or that today was the last day we’d hear about interviews? I sent my application in December 29th.

From my understanding, they interview about 160 and accept 80 students. I received my interview email on Jan 14 and interviewed this past week.

Hey if you don't mind me asking, how was the interview? How was the exam? ( math and writing section)

Hey guys, whoever went did an interview so far.. how was it? Who thinks they nailed it ? How was the math exam?

Posts program requires you to go for a full four years for your bachelors even if you have an associates or certain Pre Reqs. I only applied there as a back up plan.

I know Molloy and Adelphis program are really good. Adelphi’s Program takes 2.5 years I think because they require a full semester of sciences.

I don’t know about Molloy program but from what I understand, it’s only two years if you have pre reqs with your associates.

Just seeing this now because I guess I no longer get email notifications. Honestly I’m so confused on what my best options is but I guess once I apply and have transcripts evaluated then I’ll know for certain but I had a feeling post is a four year program regardless of having an associates or not because briefly speaking to them they mentioned that

Had my interview the second week of Feb. Math was exactly what they said in the email, so just learn that and you should be fine. As for the interview, it wasn't bad at all. I'm fine with interviews and speaking in groups or in public, but if I wasn't I still think I would've been fine. The two people I had really make you feel comfortable. At the start of the interview they told me that 604 people applied, 140 got interviews, and 65 get in. They did not mention if all emails have been sent out, but they said it would be 3 weeks of interviews from the day I went. So I would expect them to be done by the end of February, and they would let us know beginning of April if we got in. Personally, I think I nailed it, but it's not you against the people around you, it's really you against yourself. The way they do it is the interviewer gives a certain recommendation to someone else who looks at your file and they decide if you get in. They look at everything and rank it that way. So the better you, that you are, the better you'll do. I wouldn't worry about the people applying next to you.

They still interview for the standard BSN degree if you already have a bachelors?

Yes you can apply both if you already have a bachelors or if you have taken your first 2 years of pre-reqs and are completing your bachelors.

Are they still contacting people for interviews or is this process over?

I’m pretty sure they’re not because they said at my interview that they would be finished by the end of February
