Hello! I'm a new nurse and a new school nurse. What do I do when kiddos come in for stomach pain. They say they are not hungry. What should I do?
Didn't someone her once say something like - Don't look for the zebra in a herd of horses?
"When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses not zebras"
One of the beautiful things about school nursing is that you will get really good at focused physical assessment.
My first year I assessed the everloving crap out of everyone.
Come to think of it, I'm doing it again because I changed ages - but you will eventually find that automatic list of things you do for X condition. Also you'll be wrong numerous times and have to beg forgiveness but hey.....no vomit in the clinic means they can go back to class, right?
