STNA Training

There is no difference between STNA and CNA. I'd be concerned that 2 weeks is going to leave you unprepared though... My course was 2 *months* long with clinicals... My course was just under $900, but I feel it was excellent and I just passed my test... Two weeks I'd be real wary of....

Actually I took a two week course and it was about 450 plus 100 for the test. I passed state on the first try. No biggy ...I didn't think so. It depends on the instructor. Also in Ohio there is a difference between cna and stna. When you graduate from your course you will be considered a cna but you are not considered an stna until you pass the state exam. Ohio is weird...we might be the only state that does that. But in order to work in a nursing home or hospital you have to be state tested (stna) not just cna.

That IS weird. I'm in OH and from what I've heard and found- no one will even *talk* to you until you pass your state test as far as employment goes. So if there is a difference, it's not one that seems to be played out in practice....

There are some nursing homes that will hire you on as a cna but you have a certain amount of time to pass the state test - they usually pay for it. I was offered this type of position. But you're right unless you're state tested it can be very difficult. Home Health Aids also don't have to be state tested or if you work in an assisted living communtiy. But you have a lot more options being an STNA.

I was thinking about taking an STNA 3 week 2 day training course at uplift learning center in columbus, its about 500 also. I was wondering where you got the information about absolute healthcare? I think I might be interested in that one.
