STLCC Flo Valley (Fall 2016)

Published

Hello! My name is Henry and I recently accepted my spot at Flo Valley for the nursing program of Fall 2016. I wanted to see if there were any others on here starting soon or possibly starting in the Spring?

Hi Henry. How LPN. Did you have to wait to get in? I was wanting to apply for this fall or spring, but I had to drop chemistry.

Hello, Gabby!

I applied one year ago. I applied to Forest Park, Meramec and Florissant Valley due to the separate waiting lists. You may want to plan ahead and possibly take classes required in the nursing major academic plan to lessen your load if you were to be accepted and start.

However, I am slightly confused. I don't believe Chemistry is not needed as far as I knew as a pre-requisite for admission into the nursing program.

Chemistry is required. I'm retaking it this fall then applying. Although I am thinking of taking a break from the community college and starting an LPN program in the fall.

Hmmmm. . Honestly, I don't think it is a pre-requisite for either program if you are applying for the LPN or Nursing program. It may be a new change due to a new academic plan being implemented in the Summer.

Hmm. So you haven't taken chem 101? Did you take chemistry in high school?

I have taken Chemistry in high school. I have taken Fundamentals of Chemistry and General Chemistry 1&2.

I was not ever told by an advisor that you needed Chemistry but I could be wrong.

I asked an advisor today & CHM 101 is required prior to applying or a year of chem from high school. You have that plus some which could be why it wasn't mentioned to you.

having trouble deciding if I should start a year long lpn program in the fall or take Chem & wait to start the nursing program.
