Still possible to get into a nursing program?

Published

Hello,

I am 24 yrs old and I am trying to get into a nursing program in the NYC/Long Island area. I live in Long Island and currently attend Suffolk Community College. I have read many of the threads on here regarding Universities such as Stonybrook, Farmingdale, etc..and most of you say they are extremely difficult to get into. This has me very worried, and sometimes I get a bit discouraged. A state school is my only option, as I have previous student debts and cannot afford private school. I try in school but always manage to fall short of an A, most of my grades are B+'s. I got an A in Chem, but only a B+ in AP1. Right now I am taking AP2, Psych, And Comm, and I am going to try hard for an A in all of them. I am wondering if it is still possible for me to get into a nursing program in the SUNY/CUNY schools?

Hey Tanu, HOw did you end up doing on the Entrance exam?

I called the school and was told that I am still on the waiting list. The lady told me they have started accepting students and basically being on the waiting list means if someone who gets accepted decides not to go to their school and a seat opens up then I am in. We'll see....don't have a good feeling about this!
