Still Not Enough Money. Help!

Published

Ok, so I'm ready to start school in April. I am 34 years old and have real bills and a household to maintain. I will not be able to work fulltime anymore when school starts. So far I get no grants of any kind. Then it looks like I can get just enough to cover tuition and books between Stafford loans and a private loan. Now, how do I pay for all my bills only working part time?! I have been looking and I'm not finding any other private loans to cover the cost of the rest of my living expenses. Where are these loans? My school is telling me that I can only borrow a certain amount on the Stafford and private loans. It's not enough! I live in the real world. I don't mind working and I don't mind sacrificing and living super poor either but that still won't be enough! The only other private loans I can find you have to start repaying right away. That won't be possible either. I am so frustrated! I feel like maybe if I was a no good lazy person who refused to work and lived off government assistance then I'd get all this paid for! Am I wrong? I am a hardworking independent person and I can't get all the help I need. Why am I being punished for being a good worker, citizen, etc?

Can anybody identify with me or help me out here?:banghead:

I have been waitlisted for the accelerated program I chose which would be a BSN and therefore I could get more loans. I feel you!!!!! FRUSTRATING! I am 31, single and going to be living with my mom and dad!

Maybe find a flexible full time job? I HAVE to work full time for as long as I can also, and I have asked people I know who are RNs how they managed and they worked full time (retail, and hospital jobs) while in nursing school, and then cut down to part time once they could work as Nurse Externs. I know many people say it is impossible to work full time but if you are creative (even getting a night job at a hospital) and are willing to work weekends and nights I think it can be done. I have seen many posts of this board from people who had no choice and figured it out. Also, check for any scholarships you can, or any programs through your state (in Michigan there is some opportunity to get money for schooling if you are unemployed or underemployed)

have you asked your banking institution?
