Sticker shock before I even get started!

I was wondering, what kind of medical tests and or shots did you have to have before starting your nursing program?

We had to have a drug test, prove all our shots were up to date, have a rubella tither, PPD (or chest xray) and have or start our Hep B shots.

I cant believe how much all of this costs. Insurance considers most of this stuff voluntary and would not pay for any of it. the doctors visit, drug test and rubella tither was $328 and the xray was $175. Thank goodness i already had my heb b series.

So, i was wondering what other schools require.

I'm getting ready to start an accelerated ASN program in the fall and we needed the same shots. We needed Hep B, TB skin test, chest x-ray, physical by our personal physician. All immunizations need to be up to date as well. We do also need a drug screen but that is paid for by the school and we have to go to a specific clinic to get it done at. Menigitis is optional, but I had one done before I left for college. We also need to make sure we have our CPR is up to date as well. Even though my CPR certification doesn't expire until Jan 2008, they said I needed to have it renewed anyway.
