Stick It Out For 6 Months So I Can Transfer??

Published

Okay, a little background. I have been a nurse for 16 years. I just recently accepted a position within a small Assisted Living Facility, which is associated with a much larger corporation. In a nutshell, this job is a nightmare. Employees screaming, cursing even threatening each other; staff showing up late or not at all without any consequences; CNAs/MedTechs refusing to be pulled when needed and management allows it (once again without consequences) and the list goes on. Needless to say, I do NOT see myself in this position long term. I am just trying to figure out if I should try to stick it out until I hit 6 months so I can transfer somewhere within this corporation that's more desirable, or go ahead and find something else with a different company all together and leave ASAP..... What would you do??

I would continue working there while looking for another job. If something desirable comes up before the 6 months I would go for it. I am not so sure any place in the corporation would be a better fit if that is the type of behavior they condone. I would document and report EVERYTHING on an ongoing basis. The residents deserve better.

I would keep this job while actively seeking another position. You know the old chestnut: it is easier to find a job when you already have a job. Good luck to you.

I agree with everyone above. Start looking for a job ASAP elsewhere. If something better comes along great. If not, do your 6 months, and transfer out if it's worth it.
