Wondering what kind of stethoscope I should get for school. I know Littmann is a good one but there are so many. Any ideas or suggestions on which ones are better, I need adult and pedi.

I have the littmann cardiology III and I love it. I have always had trouble hearing with the stethoscopes at the hospitals, in fact everyone always wants to borrow mine it works so well :) I ordered from their website and had my name engraved on it for free. You can also get them in different lengths if you order from the website, or you could a few years ago when I bought mine...

The littmann classic SE is also good (at a more reasonable price). I didn't want to get the best thing available because of all the "borrowing" I've been hearing about on this site.
Just make sure you wear it the right way, it took me forever to realize I was wearing it wrong when I was barely hearing anything. xD

Yes I also suggest the Littman Classic SE. It works well and it isn't so costly. Mine was about $95 and I hear everything just fine. However, my school provided stethoscopes that were very flimsy but I used that up until my last level of school. I finally got a Littman in the last level because I was almost done and didn't have to worry too much about it growing a pair of legs. Just a heads up, Littman's are notorious for spontaneously deciding to walk away. If you do get one, keep it under tight surveillance. Lol but seriously.

Get a cheaper one, its gonna be upsetting if someone (even doctors) barrow it and you dont get it back. I have only lost one during my nursing classes, which i eventualy found (another nursing student had barrowed it and I had to track them down the next class period). Save the expensive ones for your graduation present. At least thats my opinion.

I bought a Littmann cardio III. I can't believe people steal them! We are supposed to professionals not criminals lol! (Yes mine is engraved) I figure I want the best tools so I can learn as much as possible. Cheaper in the long run than buying a steth or two that you end up hating and then buying the good one in the end as well.

When I started working in a hospital 6+ years ago (Geez, it seems like yesterday... ), I had a dual-tubed steth. I eventually upgraded to a Littmann Classic II and never looked back! Seriously, they don't call it "Littmann Quality" for nothing! Now, as I'm about to begin my first semester of nursing school at the end of this month, my husband has once again upgraded me to the Littmann Cardio III. I know they say to stick with cheap, but I'm happy with my investment as I can't imagine having anything else as I begin my nursing education and career.
Stealing not really (for the most part), but i have had them barrow them and set them down on the unit. Its hard to track down where they went, I think engraving them is a really good idea. When i say cheap I dont mean a bottom of the barrel type but something in middle, littmann is my preferance as well.
