Stethoscope Recommendation

Published

Looking to get a good steth. Well my wife can use it till I need it, what is a good one? I like the Littman Cardiology 3 ones but they go for to much money. Any other Littman ones good? Any other suggestions, prefer the bell end. Thanks.

I love my Littman's. Have a cardiology, classic and masters. The classic is a good steth without costing too much. See if you can get to a store and try out several types. It doesn't always come down to money but how your ears work with the different types.

My Littmann Select got me through school. It's very similar to the Master Cardiology, but not quite as expensive & it has pretty good acoustics. I haven't missed hearing anything with it. I also have a Classic 2, but for myself I'm not crazy about a dual-bell because I have a bad tendancy to use my thumb when taking bp's. However, both hear well & are not that expensive. Most uniform shops carry both in stock. I agree with the OP, find out what you can hear with...it might not be a Littmann at all. Just be sure to have a few alcohol pads in your pocket when you try them out at the store...you never know how many have tried them out before you! :)

My school recommended the littman classic II SE - it is a double-sided and it cost me $67 - I have nothing to compare it to because it is my first, but it works great for me so far and it is not too heavy. They also have the littman classic II that is single-sided if you like that better, it is a litte more expensive. Anyway, I would recommend either one of those and think you would be safe with them. :)
