I am looking into another stethoscope. I am looking into the following Littmann Master Cardiology, Littmann Master Classic 2, Littmann Cardiology 3, Heine Gamma 20, and ADC 600 plat. edition. if you have any experience with these and could comment would be great. I am also open to other suggestions. I am looking for single tube (EMT so I don't like dual tube) I also like the thicker tube. and what are your opinions on length does it really make a difference? I have always like the shorter (22") but I don't think it would be practical for every situation i.e. combative patients ect. I work as an LPN urgent care for hospice I also work at a nursing home part time. and will soon be working at a hospital on the cardiac floor. I start RN school in Aug. so I can work in the ER. thanks and sorry for rambling.

I own and love the Littman Cardiology III. I work on a Med/surg unit and we get everyone from a couple of months to 99 years old...the fact that the bell converts to a pediatric diaphragm is great! Not only for the peds, but also for those tiny little old ladies and gents...

Several other nurses own the Master Cardiology and love it! The acoustics on both of these scopes are great! Have fun shopping---

All those you mentioned are good. It depends on your preference. I use a hand-me-down Littman Cardiology II and love it.

Specializes in NICU, PACU, Pediatrics.

I have the Cardiac III also and love it

Specializes in Orthopedics/Med-Surg, LDRP.

I'd definitely stick with a Littman brand. I've got a master classic myself and I love it. I want to get a cardiology one in the next month or so before we start getting tele pts.

Specializes in Tele, Infectious Disease, OHN.

I have the Cardiac III. It is a special, all black one with my name on it.... I worked a telemetry/stepdown unit with it and LOVE it.

I just bought a Littman Cardiology III for nursing school starting in fall. I'm no expert (lol) but I can hear my heart and bowel sounds with it very clearly.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Geri, Ortho, Telemetry, Psych.

You better keep a close eye on that one. The black ones tend to walk away, even with your name on it. I always get some obnoxious color to prevent the disappearance, and so I could spot it easily if someone else walked away with it.;)

I have a littman cardiology 3 and love it. Experienced nurses who have borrowed it say that it is amazing how incredibly clear the sound is. I always recommend getting the best steth that you can because your assessments will be more accurate. For example, I recently had a patient that I heard fine crackles in her lungs. Other nurses with cheap steths put down that that patient's lungs were clear.

Just never put that steth down!

I have the Littman Master Classic II. I chose a stethescope without the ped bell because when you work on an ambulance, it's hard enough to hear. Without the bell, you have less outside noise. You can still use it for peds, just using different pressures on the head. I absolutely love mine. You can lay it on someone, not even touch it and hear so clear. My husband is hard of hearing and got an electronic Cardiology Littman, OMG you'd wet your pants. Definately don't ever let it out of your sight!
