A friend of my who is already a nurse gave me a chest piece for a Littman Classic II SEC. I was looking around to see how much binaurals and they are pretty expensive. The cheapest being around 33 bucks, almost just as expensive as a brand new stethoscope. The chest piece looks good but I am not sure if there is anything wrong with it? Is there a way that I would be able to check it before investing in the binaurals? What do you recommend I do? Thanks for any suggestions.

FYI if you have a Littmann, you can go to their website and get the address to send your stethoscope for a complete refurbishing.
I sent my Cardiac II with a stiffened and curved rubber piece to them and they sent me a completely brand - new (so it seemed) stethoscope back. They stand by their products.

Try putting the chest piece onto a coworker's stethoscope to see if it works.

I also sent my littman in for refurbishing, they did it free because it was under 5 years old. And i had to have the reciept to show when it was purchased, otherwise it would have cost me a fee. But still would have been cheaper than buying a new one.
