stethoscope for nursing student

Published

hey guys. i am going to school for my BSN and need to get a stethoscope for clinicals what stethoscope did you use in nursing school? do you wish you had a different stethoscope during nursing school/clinicals that could have been better than the one you did use? what colors did you go with for school? and did you have to buy your own BP cuff?

and also, where do you guys buy your stethoscope? (online, in store, etc)

thanks everyone! i think i am just going to invest in a good one and that way i will have it for a long time. between the littmann cardi ii, iii and ii master which do you think is the best?

if you have had any of these and have some pros and cons about them i would love to hear your opinions since i am not to experienced with stethoscope quality yet and the differences between them.

have any of you used acrylic stethoscopes (the ones with the clear chest peice)? someone told me they get the best sound but im not so sure of that.

yes i have one. i have an ultrascope. you can fold a rag over twice and still hear lung, heart, and bowel sounds perfectly.

I bought a Cardiocare stethoscope after reading about it in another nursing forum. I was amazed by the clarity of the sound compared to my previous stethoscope. I called to order mine... but I know they are now online at cardiocarescopes.com.

I love the Littman Master Cardiology. This is the exact one that I have here: http://goo.gl/AmJwnb I've been a nurse for 4 years and working on a tele unit for the past two. Most of our cardiologists use the same one and ask to borrow mine when they leave theirs elsewhere. Just be sure you keep an eye on them until they give it back! I would avoid the cheap ones unless you lose thing easily. I hear so much clearer!
