STCC 2011 Hopefuls?

Just wondering if anyone else is trying to get into STCC this fall for Nursing? I'm finishing up prereqs now, and just took the HESI. I scored an 85, but want to take it again to see if I can get my score up even higher. I have a 4.0, so I'm hoping that as long as my midterm grades are A's/B+'s I'll be OK.

i havent even started the diseases smh i had a huge anp2 test today... i think ill do it tomorrow lol

hi kickin!!!

whenn you didnt get in last year, what pre reqs werent done? im currently taking a&p2, micro and human growth, i hope this doesnt hurt my chances:confused:

At this point last year I was taking A&P 1 and Micro, and all I had left to take after that was A&P 2 which I took over the summer, so I would have been completely finished with all my pre-req's before the program started in September. My midterm grades were all A's. When I didn't make it off of the waitlist last year, I went and met with the dean of the nursing program to talk to her about what my application looked like at decision time from their perspective and what my chances were for this coming year. She said that not having all of my lab sciences finished definitely played a major part in not getting in last year. They do sometimes take people with science pre-req's in progress but she said they try to avoid doing it because they've run into problems in the past with people having a good grade at midterms so they accept them into the program, and then they don't end up with a good final grade. But then there were girls that I was in class with that got accepted right away...so who knows lol...

I went through so much trouble with the admissions dept last year, it was a bit ridiculous. They misread or neglected to read the transcripts I had forwarded from the college I got my first degree from, and thought that I hadn't completed the math requirement, so at this time last year everyone else started finding out they were accepted, and then a couple weeks later my WA status suddenly changed to "rejected." I freaked and called and emailed the deans of nursing and admissions, and we went back and forth for a week or so before they decided I did meet all the requirements and by that point all the spots in the program were filled, so they waitlisted me. It was unbelievably frustrating! This year had better be smooth sailing for me!! :)

so i just got off the fone with ****** secretary and she says that we wont hear anything until possibbly the first week of may. this is horrible. how come people from previous years heard something wayyy before. this is so reckless. well come may first and i dont hear anything from stcc i will be going to aic, i have no time to waste.

They must have to tell us before then??? We have to respond to other colleges, and make our schedules too! I hope for our sake that the person who you spoke to was having a bad day and just trying to get you off the phone! Its like they dont even understand how incrediably frustrating this is to wait to hear something, especially when we have answers from other places!:rolleyes:
