stay per diem?

Published

Currently I am per diem in the ER (working about 3-4 shifts per month). My husband carries our family medical insurance, so I do not need benefits.

All of my children are in school now. (Yeah!) My thoughts are, do I apply for a part-time position? I would have set days. Mon/Tues one week, Thurs/Fri the next week (alternating). I like the flexibility I have now in setting my own schedule (sometimes I do not get shifts that I sign up for).

Is it worth giving up some flexibility for medical benefits, 403k match, etc.

As a side note: I get paid $4.00/more per hour than if I go part-time.

If you can afford it, stay per diem!

The flexibility is great when you're a mom.

Stay flexible! My 10 yr old is scheduled to be out at least 30 days give or take with Hollidays, 2 hr early dismissals, teacher work days, snow days. They barely at school so stay flexible!
