  1. I have 7 more classes left. What are PCS packets, what labs, I guess I haven't made it to that yet, and where do I find this stuff on the website? Thanks in advance.
  2. What restriction? I called the VA BON last year and there were no issues. What changed?
  3. I love this post. Now I have to figure out how to save it🤔
  4. @emtpbill thank you for the break down. I'm gonna take my time and master the info I need to learn. I want to get into the CCU. In a few years I want to travel. I have office experience, ltc, and hh. I need that hospital experience to be around less stable people. My concern is not passing the cpne. It sounds tough. Thanks again!
  5. So I am almost done with A&P1. Next is 2 then 4 more pre reqs. Question: what should I expect and how should I prepare as much as possible for the cpne? My hospital is having a shortage of RNs so they have an externship where you can be hired for the summer and paid as a RN student nurse 1. After the summer, they keep you as you finish school. The problem, you have to have had at least done medsurg clinicals! Well how does that work when your online and clinicals are last vs ongoing like in the traditional programs. If I double classes starting in phase 1, I will be done by next fall. How can I prepare for the floor?🤔
  6. I was saying the same thing!
  7. I have had no problems with Maxim. I tested them when the snow fell and called 24hrs before my shift....ahhh, yeah....I'm not coming and they had no problem. My kind of employer. (flexible)
  8. If you are looking for one on one patient care in the home, Maxim Health Care is nationwide and Hires Lpns and RNs!
  9. I'm such a job hopper that I decided to keep my foot wedged in one door, I work 6 days at home health (4 Friday's & q other Saturday). Just got hired at a nursing staffing agency doing corrections in the pharmacy. Looking to do 5 hrs a month or 8 11-7am shifts. Either way, I'm technically working 2 weeks out of the entire month making over $2k. If this isn't encouragement to get my RN I don't know what is! I do it for the schedule flexibility & my husband works ft. Just not enough income if I were to be completely full time student.
  10. Home Health Agency $17.50 Facility Staffing Agency $25.00 Nursing home always pays more. The 6 year plan is to get the RN, experience, then travel when the nest is empty! Virginia
  11. Plan a dinner menu for the week and cook before work. Take snacks and your good!
  12. I work home health. I prefer it over the nursing home. I get paid weekly and can pick and choose if I feel like working.
  13. Just had one Saturday night. He stayed by my side until it was time to do rounds. Answered all my questions and helped when I asked. I think I love how he did his job then came back to the nursing station where I could always find him. We worked on the Dementia lock down unit. And he was scheduled to work 18 mandatory hours.
  14. @BSNbeDONE would you be more specific on how you mapped out your plan? I signed up for the self study, got the book and syllabus and in still on ch 2 because I need to sit in the class room. I want to do what you did, take pre reqs at the CC and classes at EC. 1. How many classes did you take at once @ the CC? 2. How many classes did you take at EC simultaneously? 3. What did financial aid cover? What did you pay out of pocket? 5. How long did this all take from start to finish. 6. How long did you study per day and week. Thanks for your help or the help of someone who has done the same. I'm an LPN who went to ITT last yr took all pre reqs and couldn't commute to clinical studies due to child care so in starting over and none of the credits transfer. Help please!
  15. So I had my first taste of correctional nursing the other day. That pat down was tough. I felt like play dough in a toy store. The women were on lock down so I never saw them during the finger printing. Monday, I orientate the men's prison- what should I expect.... Honestly!
