State issued our 30 day notice today

Published

We had our annual survey a couple of weeks ago. We got 2 J tags. They came back and today they issued the facility a 30 day notice. We have 30 days to find placement for all of our residents. I am so sad. Who is going to take care of our people? Most of them know no where else. They are going to be so lost.

What are J tags? I've heard of them but not sure what they are. Sorry if it's dumb question.

That is sad. I'm so sorry! :icon_hug:

I'm so sorry this has happened to you and your residents. :icon_hug:

In the long run, I'm sure it will be best for all concerned---J-tags are not given lightly---but it's got to be hard on everyone right now. LTC facilities tend to be a lot like families, and it's sad when members are forced to go their separate ways. Just know that this is probably a blessing in disguise for your residents, and if you can, try to help find them other placements and keep in touch with them.

My heart goes out to you and your residents.:heartbeat

A J-tag represents isolated immediate jeopardy to the health and safety of the residents.

Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry!

My Mom is in a LTC facililty and she LOVES the staff there. I can only imagine how worried you are about the residents. I'm so sorry this is happening, but...mysterious ways and all that. I will pray that it will work out for the best for everyone in the long run.

You obviously really care about your residents. I am so thankful that my Mom has people like you caring for her!

WOW! I have heard of not being able to take admissions for 30 days but not that they could give you 30 days to find placement for people. So are they permamently shutting down your facility or just until things get straightened out and corrections made? So sorry about this. We just had survey and it did not go good but was not this bad. We had 2 G tags. One was because the diet tech was not following weights good and a couple of residents lost too much weight. The second was because a STNA left a patient with an alarm on the toilet by himself et he fell causing a hip fracture. What are people thinking?? They have an alarm for a reason!! Some people make me so mad/frustrated. We do not have to put a hold on admissions or anything but we are still being fined by the day until corrections are made. This was our worst survey since I have been here.
