State board "delinquent"status

I was looking on the state boards and have found that I am now considered

"delinquent" in the state of California. That's OK as I am not planning to move back to Calif. However, I was wondering exactly what someone has to do if they move back to a state and find out they are "delinquent." Thanks :)

I'm not sure. In the other states that I worked in they do not have me down as a "delinquent". They have me listed as "inactive" license. Hopefully, I will find a "delinquent" nurse to explain it to me. :chuckle

Well, fortunately I can answer your question as I am in the same boat. I have lived off and on in California since 1989, and a few of those times I've not always renewed because I never thought I'd be moving back there......love it so much, I end up going back on travel assignments, etc.

California is the ONLY state I've dealt with that does not offer "inactive status". Every license that is not renewed within the stated time frame will always be posted as "delinquent"..............that's "normal" for California.

If you ever want to return, you call the Ca Bd of Nursing for the exact amount of your renewal fee and simply pay it. It's not a bad thing at all. Delinquent is pretty much like inactive (if you will).

Right now my own CA nursing license was up for renewal this past December, yet I still haven't decided if I'm going to renew it or not at this time. If and when I do renew, I'll pay the late fee. I probably will renew it since I can't seem to stay away from CA. :)

Thanks so much cheerfuldoer That eases my mind a lot. I was worried that if I ever changed my mind and decided to return to Calif. they would tell me "No you can't get your nursing license back" :)

I don't know what it means in California but I can tell you what it means in Florida. I allowed my license to laspe, in 2000, in Florida. I went to reactivate it, in 2004 and found that they had listed my license as revoked. Apparently, they have changed their language. If I wish to reactivate it, it will cost me more then $200, fingerprints, a criminal background check, 8 CEUs, a several months of precious time.
