I think that they are held available to the public to let students witness that nursing licenses can be put on probation or taken away very easily, and to show that it is not something to take for granted. I think they are also there for nurses to go to that haven't been to one before and can see what can happen if they do something reckless (even if it doesn't have to do with nursing), but it can still affect the privileges to practice. I overall think it is to make other nurses, students, and the public more aware of what goes on and how seriously they take a nursing license, and even nursing programs. This could make nurses be more responsible with their actions (not just at work) and can make them aware that everyone can be aware of their actions, and how being a nurse is something the public is aware of (since they are taking care of the public). Some nurses may find this unfair to have to present their actions against their license in front of the public... I was just curious as to what others thought about this.

What reasons do you think nursing state board meetings are held available to the public?
