Hello,

I will graduate this December 2010 with my RN. However, my school is up for its state acceditation renewl this October 2010. What happens if they fail? Does that mean I ****** 2yrs away for nothing and despite being 2months away from graduating. Is there a probation period if they fail?

I'm not positive about nursing accreditation boards, but I have been a part of several other boards. Generally, if you begin school in an accredited school, then you will be allowed to test and tell others that you attended and tested out of an accredited school.

Check your state accreditation website to alleviate your anxiety. The answers that you ask are probably there if you are willing to search a little. I imagine it would be fairly unlikely to lose accreditation, especially if you haven't heard of any issues with your nursing program.

In my state, the worst that could happen (unless something really remarkable was going on) would be that the school would be put on probation and given a chance to improve whatever problems there were. The school would not lose its approval until it failed repeatedly to fix the identified problems (some schools in my state have been on probation for years at a time, without ever actually losing their approval).
