stat/crisis nurses

I would like to institute a crisis nurse program at my new hospital (some places call them Stat nurses). I was a crisis nurse at a trauma center until last year when I moved to Manhattan. Anyone have this type of support nursing staff in your hospitals? Any thoughts on starting the role from scratch?

We have them, they are called the ERT team. I dunno what ERT stands for, but they never seem to show up when we need them, lol. I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about or not. They are sort of like the Harvey team but they don't answer code blues.

But back to the original question. I'm not sure what the function of an ERT nurse or stat nurse is? Is this for in-hospital needs? or for handling community crises?

A Stat nurse, sometimes called crisis nurse, functions as a free-roving ER/ICU nurse who is usually on trauma team, answers Stat calls, especially on floors when patients are going bad, spends a lot of time in diagnostics, and helps out in ER and the units when they get slammed. Michele O.

We call them resource nurses. They are supposed to be able to help out where needed, whether it be in the ER, or in the Unit during a code, etc.
