STARTING SALARY FOR NURSING HOME RNs?

Published

Hello- I was just wondering what starting salaries are around for new nurses in nursing homes? I live in MI, but just a ballpark answer would be great. Thanks!! :)

North Central Illinois, new grad starting at $22 in LTC. The hospitals in this county pay under $20, some as low as $17-18. Low shift diffs. The hospital that I wish to work in in the Western burbs of Chicago starts new grads at $24. However they offer generous shift diffs.

I'm at $27.00. I feel underpaid...

It really varies in my state. I interviewed with one facility that paid $19/hour for RNs. Another facility paid $23-26/hour, which is better than what the hospitals here are paying staff RNs.

I also knew an agency LPN who worked LTC and pulled $30-35/hour depending on the shift (evenings/nights/weekends).
