Starting Prerequisitions in January

Published

Hi I'm going to be starting my prerequisitions soon and as a full time student and I was wondering what the course load for a full time student would be like, and any advise that would be helpfull to me. And what course I should take 1st, and any helpful study tips would be great. Thanks.

Can't wait to read some responses, I am also starting pre reqs in Jan. I am taking Math, Bio, Psy, and Eng. Good Luck to you!!

Thanks, good luck to you too.

did the school you are attending give you some sort of "idea" as to what you should take first? normally schools have a sample schedule so students have some sort of concept on what would be a good idea to take first.

also, some classes have pre-req's of their own. so, some classes (like microbiology at my school for example) can't be taken first.

for my first semester (what the school suggested) of pre-req's, i took:

- human anatomy and physiology 1

- freshman english

- intro to sociology

- into to psychology

hope this helps

Thanks, I was thinking of following the sample schedule that I have. I was just wondering are they're a lot of papers and projects to do, and how many hrs of studying I should do. And study tips are helpful since I've wen through most of high school either not studying at all or memorizing material and not really knowing what I was memorizing. I want to learn it and know it, memorizing is the easy part, learning and understanding is the hard part. Thanks for your info

Speak to an advisor at your school about which program you want and based on your placement tests, scores etc and the pre-reqs she/he will tell you which ones you need to take first.

A full course load is considered 12 credits or more. Most people would take 4 to 5 classes. But don't over do it you want the best possible grades and don't want to over tax yourself. Try not to take a lot of classes that require a lot of writing and reading all at the same time you will feel overwhelmed and not be able to do your best.

Hello,

I'm also starting pre-reqs in Jan., but b/c I have a previous Bachelor's Degree, my course of action may be a bit different. I only have 4 (maybe 5--I need to check) pre-reqs left to take before applying to NS. I'm taking 1-2 classes each semester through the Fall of '09 and applying for Spring '10 admission (I also have a 4 year old and a 1.5 year old and a traveling husband----so I am trying to ease back into this whole thing!)

This spring, I am taking A&P I and Developmental Psychology. In the summer, I will take A&P II and Chemistry (Chem is the one I need to verify that I need to take---I may not have to) and in the fall, I will take Microbiology. At least that is my plan!

My school has a degree plan very well laid out with classes in recommended order, etc. You may want to check to see if yours does, too.
