Starting nursing Pre-reqs

Published

Hello all! I'm new to this site and am Extremely excited about this new journey in my life! I haven't been in a classroom in a loooong time! Im in my 40's and the kids are grown so its just me! Still nervous, but looking forward to becoming a nurse! Any advice from those studying in their 40's would be so grateful!!

I'm also in my 40s, my children are older now, and I'm changing careers. Have a BS in another field and taking 2 pre-reqs, including A&P I now. Planning to work part-time and also volunteering at a hospital. I'm so excited though! Good luck!

I am in my forties too and just got accepted to nursing school. I start Jan. 22. So excited and so scared. I have a degree in education, but haven't taught in over ten years to stay home with kids. Just started my pre-reqs last January. If I can do it, you can too! The best advice was given in my Overview of Nursing class, work hard and try to have some fun every day! Don't forget to take care of you through this journey!

Good for you! I'm 39 with small children and this is a 2nd career for me. This site is an endless source of inspiration and advice. When I made the decision last year to start pre reqs, the info and positive people on this site have helped to "keep my eye on the prize".

I second the advice of ratemyprofessor.com

Good luck and keep researching and reading for inspiration.
