starting nurse owned agency

Nurses Entrepreneurs

Published

My friend and I are putting together an LLC owned and operated by nurses, home health care and would like to know where to get less expensive . Know any companies?

Thanks!

The one I am familiar with is for individual liability coverage, NSO.

I hope others will post and share their insight.

i have received comparable coverage at lower cost with cm&f group, inc., please give more details on starting a nursing agency service. thanks:)

HPCO is what I believe it's called (I think). It's an insurance cooperative for home health and hospice companies, both non-profit and for profit.

You will find that you must buy your professional and general liability from the same company. No one wants to sell you just one because in some cases there is a fine line between the two and this way there will be no argument on who is going to pay for what.

NSO (or more precisely HPSO) will sell you general liability along with professional liability. You probably won't be able to find it on their website, but they will quote you on the phone.

I am also starting a LLC and found good coverage through:

Northwest Insurance Agency

PO Box 6577

Eureka, CA 95502

General liability, professional liability, personal injury, and workers comp.are all included upon request; and at a reasonable cost. However, my facility is commercial - not home based, but that probably will work as a benifit to you in your effort to cut costs. Good luck to you!

This is not actually a reply to the question asked, but I would like to know as someone also interested in starting her own nursing agency, how do you get the contracts from the hospitals

You ask them for one.

You ask them for one.

That's a great answer! In a nutshell!

Without trying to write a book, your marketing is your nurse's profile. They like that, ask them for a contract for that nurse. (Have one ready).

This is advice coming from a travel perspective. Local agency is a whole 'nother kettle of fish. But should be similar. The first poster is trying to start local with friends. She will probably put together a profile of the nurses she can provide to market, and then ask for business.
