Hi all! I am starting my med-surg rotation in 2 weeks and wanted any helpful hints and advice. I have the review and rationales book, a mnemonic book, clinical handbook, HESI book and other supplemental material. I need a study plan, because I am a mom of 3 and full-time in BSN program. Thanks in advance :-)

When I was in my first semester of med-surg, I was so busy with the Lewis textbook that I didn't even have a chance to look at any supplemental books.

The lecture notes from class and the main textbook should suffice for success. Just make sure to study, Study, STUDY! This course sets the foundation for the rest of your nursing career. Good luck!! Med-Surg was the most stressful and busiest semester for me and I had a a ful time job, no kids.

Get it:)!

I also start in a couple of days. I am nervous but very excited.

I got Reviews and Rationales too. I also have an Nclex book and Medsurg Success. I don't know if I will use all of them. I got them because I thought that it might be helpful some time, maybe during midterm or finals.

What I am currently doing is looking over my anatomy and phys. I think this is the best thing that can be done. Look over your weak areas. Mine is Neuro anatomy. I didn't learn it well enough in AP. And it is also my first chapter in Medsurg lol.

Good luck to us. :) Hope a survivor writes back and gives us more advice. Otherwise there are good old posts with a lot of info!

I hope so. Good luck to you also!!! We will survive. Keep me posted Eagle Wings :-)

I just finished my rotation a couple of months ago. If your clinical instructor wants paperwork, do it. It helps serve as a study guide also. Good Luck! It seems like a lot now, but you will breeze right through!
