Hi, I just started my CNA course last week. It is really nice, there is a lot of info to learn. We pretty much do a chapter a day then practice our skills. I would say stay on top of readings, read ahead if you can and practice your skills at home so you can become more comfortable with them.
Best Wishes
The hardest part of the class is making room for it in your schedule. The material itself is really easy... do the reading and show up and you'll have no problem. Your clinicals might be a little crazy; you might find yourself getting offended that the CNAs you're following are annoyed with you or they don't do things by the book. We get threads from students in their clinicals all the time huffing and puffing about how the CNAs did this or that "wrong." Please just remember that the job is not an easy one and there's no time to spare. Their job has to come before the students. If you want to get certain skills done you'll probably have to be proactive about it. Be courteous and ask ahead of time. And no, it is not humanly possible to do everything by the book... no use getting huffy about it because you'll be in the same boat eventually.
I've also seen people on here get huffy because the other people in their class "aren't taking it seriously." ANNOYING! It's 3 months of your life-- too short of a time to get all bent out of shape about other people. Believe me, you'll have enough drama in your life when you get a job.
The written test is easy. I don't think I've seen anyone on here say they failed. VERY few people fail the skills test, but everyone is still a nervous wreck about it anyway. Depending on your state you have to perform about 5 random skills and one of them is always handwashing, so it's really like 4.
Good for you, I've been thinking about taking CNA classes also. I am currently in school applying to the LPN program. I've already completed and passed all my pre-reqs. I have medical experience but only as a Medical Assistant and PCA. Like others have posted, just try to stay on top of the course material and if you can try to stay ahead and practice, practice, practice. Other than that you should be fine. Good Luck to you!

I just signed up for this site, not even 30 minutes ago. I have been roaming around this forum, and have found so much useful information.
I start my CNA class tomorrow morning, and I couldn't be more exciting.
I am going to school for nursing, but haven't made it past the pre-reqs yet. Sp, I decided to do a CNA program in the mean time to at least get my foot in the medical door.
I'm pretty sure that I have already read the first 3 chapters. LOL.
Is there any advice you can give for people just going into the program? What to expect, etc?
