Starting Capstone Next Week!!

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Just finished up Leadership and Management as well as Co-op. I can't believe this long journey is almost over. I started in October 2013 - so 11 months to the finish line isn't too bad! Good luck to everyone next semester!

I was excited to see the course open in Blackboard, then irritated that I can't open the attestation form or syllabus. I was hoping to get a few things done today since I have to work tomorrow. Hopefully, they will get it opened up soon! I'm so ready to be done with school!!

Hi Krazylady,

I can't open anything either. I've never had a course that didn't allow you to at least see the syllabus and the attestation form before the Monday start date. Plus, Blackboard looks really weird now, doesn't it? I don't like the new look at all.

I guess we just have to wait until tomorrow to see what this class is all about.

Thanks for posting ScarletFire. I was beginning to think it was just me. Still nothing this morning. If I get a break today, I will see if I can check it from work.

Good luck everyone!

Krazylady,

Have no idea why they waited until so late to open things up. I also checked after MN, which would be early Mon morning and nothing. Whatever.

I'm looking through everything now to get a feel for how life is going to be for the next 5 weeks. Looks like we are doing a PP presentation but I'm not sure on what. Right about now I'm just ready to say good-bye to UTA forever.

More later.

I'm trying to wrap my head around all this, too. A friend of mine that took capstone last year said it's an easy A and she did all of the work in the first 2 weeks (although she turned it all in on the week it was due). I hope that after I get started, it will fall into place and be the easy A I'm hoping for. All I've done so far is the week 1 discussion post and watch the videos.

hi iLovebees,

So, I see that as usual everything in this class is crystal clear. kidding. I've been through everything and still don't have a feel for the project except that it is in 3 parts and that there is an accompanying PP. This class might be easy in the long run, but I don't know why these profs can't seem to just tell us what the assignment is in simpler terms. We spend hours trying to just figure out what exactly we are supposed to do.

You are so right about that. If they would just provide an example of a completed Capstone project, it would make it so much easier.

I went ahead and did the whole Journey paper. It's really silly how they make your journal for weeks and then write a paper bound to whatever you wrote. I just wrote the Journey paper and then wrote journal entries that supported the paper. Much, much easier.

The resume is pretty simple. Did that too.

It's the capstone project I'm stumbling a bit on. I'll be up all tonight and hopefully I get a rough draft done. I just want to get this all over with!

Hi ilovebees,

I see your point about doing the journey paper first. I'm going to do a lot of copying and pasting from that leadership paper re: short term and long term goals. I don't know why we have to continually tell them our goals in like 3-4 classes now. I keep changing them to fit the class. Whatever.

Yeah, I just re-did my resume a few weeks ago for a different reason, so looks like I should be able to use that w/ a few modifications. I'm having a bit of a hard time w/ the project, too. But, I guess i'll figure something out; i always do. I'm just really sick of having to spend time trying to decipher what they want from us. I know I've complained about this before, but it really bothers me.

p.s. do you really love bees or just the honey?

I just submitted my nursing journey paper - the last assignment I had to do! All I need to do is make a few discussion posts next week, and I am done!! I can't believe we are finished with our BSNs! Writing my nursing journey paper was a great way to reflect on everything I have learned over the past 11 months. Going away with hubby for a few days, and then next week, cleaning this house from top-to-bottom, lol. It has been pretty neglected over the past year!

Just wanted to say congrats guys! I know you have worked very hard and are sick to death of writing papers! To think that you are almost to your LAST paper is so exciting! Just a little more work to go! I am 4 classes behind you and I'm really happy for you all in Capstone - Way to go!

Hi Krazylady,

I finished everything last week, but was delaying the submission until the due dates but 2 days ago, I figured, why wait? So, I submitted all 7 and now just waiting for grades. I have to clean my house, too, but will start that next week. Right now, I just want to enjoy realizing that I don't have to be a slave to this school anymore.

Congratulations to you and everyone who has crossed the finish line.

Congrats ScarletFire!

I still need to do 2 discussion posts. I am the only one who has posted in my group for next week. It's a pretty dumb post if you ask me - but whatever! I've been relaxing today! Cleaned up my work area at home and did laundry. No real housework until next week. Next week I start a job at our community college as a medication nurse for the 2nd-year nursing students. The pay is good, and it should be fun! A nice diversion from the ICU!
