Started the Pre-Reqs Today

Published

Hey Everyone! Just need to vent and fret a little. I started the pre-reqs today! Yes, finally it seems like it has taken forever. I had A&P I and Psych today, will have to add in Chemistry tomorrow. What is worrying me right now is A&P. I have this professor, and while she is extremely smart and I love her, I am already worrying about her class. We had to read the whole first chapter tonight, it was very long and a lot to look over and study. She has already warned that she won't lecture a lot, we won't have any lab practicums, our grades consists of 4 exams. The first exam is in 3 weeks and will be over 3 chapters, one including the one i read tonight. I'm just already frightened that I'm not absorbing much of the information, now matter how or what I'm studying. I guess I just sort of need someone who has been there and done that to tell me I am over reacting because it is only my first day. Psych is easy for me since I have already taken the class once, it just didn't count because it was an AP class in a high school. Chemistry I have a teacher that I heard isn't very good and will basically have to pull myself through with reading. Ahh, gotta love nursing school already. :chuckle

Lucky you! My classes don't start until September 8th! I am worried about my A&P as well. Here is what I am gonna do; take notes based on the lecture, take notes based on the chapter you have read and take notes on the lab (draw some pictures). Record the professor if she doesn't mind and listen to it driving home, doing dishes, cleaning your house, etc.

Most importantly, remember to breath! I get stressed about being stressed - so I know how you feel! :chuckle Just take things as they come and concentrate on one thing at a time. Thinking about trying to figure out everything will just overwhelm you. Good luck this semester! :typing

Hi. I started A&P I last night and I have to say I am probably just as scared as you. :D I know how to study I think it is just the "you have to do well" mentality that is freaking me out. We can do this!!! Good luck to everyone else in the same boat.

I like this! Stressed about being stressed! Yep! Soundsl like me too! :chuckle I'm also stressed about starting next Tuesday. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

Good luck to all!

I start next Tuesday. A&P1 and Chemistry...oh boy! I just started a new thread on here asking how to prepare for A&P cause I am shook too! I haven't taken any science courses in over 10 years now so I am really nervous about the lab tests/practicals! Yikes!!!

sounds like a typical A&P class. first of all, dont fret to much, EVVVVVVVVERYONE usually gets worried. Next, i recommend you get a book that breaks the text book down a lil more. I bought a A&P book that explained in laymens terms. and everything in it we covered. Dont read everychapter, every paragraph. its too much to remember. read over what is covered in class, and get the book like i said. allso there is a few good websites that offer free, study tools that help tremendouly.

http://msjensen.cehd.umn.edu/Webanatomy/default.htm this is on the University of Minnisota website. excellent tool and click n drag labeling.

you can also go to Holes Anatomy and Phisiology website and click on the essential study partner tab, it is awsome too.
