where should i start my pre-reqs?

Published

Hello,

I could really use some advice! i graduated with a marketing degree last year (B.A) and decided to go into nursing just this month. I live in brooklyn and im trying to find the right school to apply to for my pre-reqs. I'm not sure if i should go for my AAS or BSN but i figure ill have time to think about that while I'm taking pre-reqs. i graduated with a 3.2 and i feel like i will never get into a nursing school! Is this true? Also... what school in NY should i apply to? i am so confused! i really dont have any idea about how this whole nursing school thing works! any advice?

You'll probably apply to many places, you might even decide on your BSN vs. ADN by who will accept you first. If you still have all the math and Science to take I would go the cheapest route, here in Ca we have community colleges, the course transfer to the universities if I should want to go there. You will have to find the school you want to go to meet with the advisors and set up your plan of action.

good luck.

Which school did you graduate from? Anyway, if you are just taking pre reqs, then take them at a CUNY school, since the tuition is relatively cheap. In addition, when I did my NS research, I researched different kinds of programs..ADN, BSN and Accl BSN programs. I am currently in a BSN program. Also, I would definitely suggest visiting and searching through the NY forum because you will find out about different programs/schools.

No, it's not true. You need to get some more details about how competitive your school program is. I thought my school's program was competitive (and if you ask the faculty, they will tell you that it is), but it's not.

As far as your pre-reqs, it doesn't matter where you take them, AS LONG as you contact the registrar's office before you take each course and make sure it's an apples-to-apples course. This is the biggest mistake that people make when they change schools, they don't check! They just take and hope! That is what those people are getting paid to do, answer questions. If you dig around enough on their website, many schools are even posting a "transfer guide" that will have the course number of one school and what they will take it as at theirs.
