staRN program??? Questions...

Published

Hey everyone,

I just got offered a spot in the staRN new grad program for St. Lucie Medical Center's ICU! The program is not until Oct. 20th and the site is almost 1 1/2 hours away....so I am trying to figure out how I will manage childcare at that time. Can anyone who has been in the program tell me what your classroom and clinical hours were like? Did you have your clinicals at the same hospital you did classroom work at? The nurse recruiter does not have this info for me right now.....so any input would be really helpful! Also, I am pregnant and due to deliver right in the middle of clinicals, so who knows how that will work out when I tell the recruiter. Hopefully it doesn't stop me from participating in the program....

Hello, I have an interview for the StarN internship program for Palm West Hospital next week and just wanted to know does anyone have any advice or pointers, am nervous and I really want to get accepted into the program

Can you tell us a little more about the final? Currently in the program and am so worried about this. We were told it was "cumulative" and not much else other than questions are based on the ECCOs. That makes me so nervous considering there are TONS of ECCOs! Any tips you can share to pass the final?

Thank you so much!!

I have the classes at the college, the hospital classroom was booked. They were 9 to 5pm classes, and fridays we drove to boca raton for SIMS labs. I was a almost 2 hr drive each way on fridays.

We also got ACLS, and I got 8 weeks preceptorship, I started on my own last week. The training was good, the instructors were funny and it was like nursing school in 6 weeks. Some days we stayed home and worked on ECCO modules that we had to finish before SIMS on fridays. Good luck to all of you !! :-)

Hi! I would love to get an opportunity like this too! I just passed my RN boards and have my associates degree but I am enrolled for my bachelors. Do you know if they will take you with an associates ? Also I live in NY currently so I know the pay will be very different. Just trying to get an idea of salary so if I do relocate I know what I can afford down there.

Thanks and good luck !

Yes they will take your adn

Hello!

I am doing the StaRN program and I was wondering, for all of you who have done it, what kind of info is on the final comprehensive test? I want to make sure I am studying appropriately.

Thank you,

Steph

hello ccer99,

Since you have completed the StaRN program, could you give me any pointers what to study for the comprehensive exam? The ECCO modules have a ton of information and I want to make sure I study the right stuff. Do they give you a study guide?

Thanks for any info!

SJ

Hi fubaby1,

I am curious what kind of info will be on the comprehensive final? The ECCO modules are intense and I want to make sure I study the right stuff. Is a study guide provided?

Thanks for any info,

SJ

Hey Steph! I am starting the program August 29, the cohort right after you! I wanted to know how you liked it? I am most concerned about the traveling to SIM labs each week as I don't have a car (Im a Fort Pierce local so it's not hard for me to get around the city itself). Feel free to reach out!

Quick question. I got an interview for the StaRN program, but as much as I want the training, I also need to pay my bills. my question is, do you get any paid for the 13 weeks, that you are in the training program.

Hey Castaneda, congrats! You get payed during your 13 week training however it is 15$/hr. When you finish and sign on with your hospital you will get paid more...whatever that specific hospital pays. Good luck to you :)

Hello everyone! I just got an email back and will be having a phone conversation next week with a recruiter for the staRN program in KS/ MO. I am really nervous and don't know what to expect, at all! I will be graduating in May of 2017. I guess I'm just wondering in general what the whole picture is... I'm too excited to wait for the call haha So basically you go to paid orientation and then training for about 10 weeks total. Upon completion you will be hired on at the hospital. Any sign on commitments? Anyone have difficulty passing the tests? Anyone get hired on so early before their graduation date? Mine is still 4 months away!! :) TIA

Hi Steph,

How was the comprehensive final? Im assuming you took it already! :D
