Honestly, previous practice with interviews helped a lot! But I also had several stories planned that could fit multiple different scenarios, and I would always practice in front of a mirror, so I could see how I was presenting (for example, I realized I would fidget with my hands a lot and play with my hair so I would tie my hair up for interviews.) Take a moment when interview panelists ask you questions and gather your thoughts and really focus on answering the question- I would rush into answering right after they would ask me and I realized I wasn't even answering the question fully in my previous interviews. Always frame your answers using the "STAR" method and always end it with something you learned or something your doing to fix/improve on! Look up common interview questions on Glassdoor for the specific hospital so you have a general idea for the type of behavioral interviews they will be asking ? Hope this helps!!

also, come with really good questions to ask at the end of the interview so it really shows your interest and dedication for the job. I came with hand written questions, and I also came with a portfolio that I made! It's just going the extra mile to show your dedication for the job. And always send a thank you letter at the end of the interview to the panel ? best of luck, everything will work out in the end and remember, what's meant to happen will happen!!

Did you ask one question or more than one question at the end? Also by portfolio do you mean you handed out your resume? If you don't mind can you share what you included in it?

I asked a total of 4 questions at the end of it and took notes on what their replies were. And my portfolio included my cover letter, resume, transcript, reference letters, and all certifications— I know they already have access to these from our initial application but coming to the interview and handing them out doesn't hurt at all and makes you look professional since first impressions matter so much during interviews!

Wow that is amazing! You really are the perfect candidate! Have you applied to other new grad programs or this is your first one?

I applied to Kaiser's and ended up getting rejected and then I made it to Round 2 Interviews at Lucile Packard but didn't end up making the cut! It's mostly just practice and being prepared for the behavioral type questions since that's what most new grad interviews are like! thank you for your kind words!

That is amazing because they picked so few candidates and you shined through!! That is a really big accomplishment!! I have another In-person hospital interview coming up this week and am trying to prepare for that. I wanted to know if it would be okay if you could hear how I answer a few of the interview questions? Maybe I am doing something wrong I am not sure..

One thing I remember my Kaiser mentor said (and she does new grad interviews) is that people can sometimes over practice their answers. It ends up sounding robotic and the interviewers can tell and usually use that opportunity to throw a curveball.

Being able to adapt your stories into different scenerios and making sure you make it sound like a conversation! The hospitals that have given me offers are places where the interview felt like we were getting to know one another. The STAR method that babysushi mentioned is amazing! Also, don't be afraid to be yourself and embrace vulnerability. The right hospital will come through! Remember, youre also interviewing them ? Good luck!

Thank you guys for being so helpful it truly means so much!! @babysushi how can I send you a private message on here? I am so confused loll. Can you email me at [email protected]?

Has anyone else received any updates?

Nothing as of yet.. Anyone receive anything? I think they may have already picked their candidates by now.

Nothing, mine still says in review. I'm still hopeful but...
