Stanford Valleycare Oct 2023 New Grad Residency

Published

Application process began yesterday and I don't see a thread for it yet.  This is for the location in Pleasanton CA.

Good luck to all those applying!

RN Residency Program Timeline:

June 30-July 19, 2023: Applications accepted

August 16-18, 2023: Interviews

October 2, 2023: Residency Begins

Hi! Thank you so much for starting this thread! Im hoping for a chance to get into the interview! I applied to the August Cohort in Stanford's other hospital but only got to the first panel interview. (Seriously the hardest interview I've ever done). I don't know if anyone knows if this Stanford location is similar to the way the other one did things. Anyways, good luck to you all! I hope we get to work together in the near future!

Also, when it says that that the supplemental questions will be emailed separately, does that mean like after we do the initial application they'll email us each separately with the questions?

Also, does anyone know if the same team from the August cohort would be chaperoning this entire section as well? Like in terms of I terview selection, reading applications, etc

Ooooh all good questions! I'm not entirely sure but the additional questions kind of reminds me of Kaisers residency. After applying Kaiser emailed a questionnaire with questions that pertained to when you're willing to work, or understanding that you will not be allowed time off for the first weeks/months etc.. I was assuming this might be similar but not sure.

I was just happy to see they have a nurse residency program because this drive would be so much better for me!

Hi! Im guessing youre right! Also, I take my exam July 11th, do you think its best if I wait until I get my results back to apply? The window seems pretty decently long for application submission so I think I would get my results back on time

Ooooh I take mine July 11th too! Yeah you're totally fine. Those who have taken theirs already get results within a day or two. We just need it before we start in October.

I really hope that we get the chance to work here? I keep getting rejections and its starting to really affect me? These residency programs are so competitive

I hope so too!! Aww I believe in us too! ?

I don't like going through this process either. However I feel like once we pass NCLEX more doors will open for us.  ?

What school did you graduate from? I went to San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.

Aw that's awesome! I'm taking the RN-BSN online with CSU Long Beach this Fall.

I may have to just wait to start a nurse residency if I don't get in this first round somewhere.  Either way it will work out.

Have you looked at places to live out here?

I was going to attend CSU Long Beach! I ended up going with the school that gave me more aid LOL. But I heard a lot of amazing things about CSULB!

I have started looking at places! Its been challenging to feel motivated after the whole rejection series that's been going on ?? But hopefully things work out!

I keep hearing how great they are too but it's so bizarre that I cannot locate a group of students who are attending the online RN-BSN program. I've searched here and FB and nothing.
Things will totally work out. Don't lose hope. I know it's tough but I had heard from the nurses I worked with in Stockton that this area was super competitive and some even commuted to Stockton which would be like 1.5-2.0 hours one way!!  I was like why are you living in Oakland and working in Stockton?! Now I totally understand.
