Stanford Medicine Healthcare Nurse Residency March 2024 Cohort 40

Starting a thread for the New Grad program starting March 2024!

Note from allnurses Staff

As this is one of our most popular new grad residencies on this forum, with hundreds of threads over the years, the allnurses support team wanted to share some additional information on the residency program.

Good luck to all!

Stanford New Nurse Residency Program

The Stanford RN Residency Program, which started in 2006, is one of the most sought-after residencies in the country. The Winter 40 Cohort has a start date of March 18th, 2024.

It is a separate residency program from the Stanford Children's Health (Lucile Packard) Program and the Stanford ValleyCare programs.

Residency Program Pay

The pay is competitive at $81.69/hour plus shift differentials:

  • 10% evenings
  • 18% nights and
  • 5% weekends

Interviews

Interview invites are scheduled to be sent out at the beginning of January, with the interviews taking place from January 29th- February 9th, 2024. There are two separate interviews:

  • Panel level: an approximately hour-long virtual group interview with 4-5 candidates; each applicant will have an opportunity to answer all the same questions
  • Unit Level: a 30-60-minute interview with the hiring manager and potentially other members of the leadership team; this interview could be virtual or in-person

Specialties Offered

There are four specialty areas that participate in the new grad program:

  1. Critical Care
  2. Inpatient Medicine Units
  3. Inpatient Surgical Units
  4. Inpatient Oncology

As well as some additional specialties (subject to change). Applicants are asked to rank their preferences, but you will only be interviewed for one specialty.

Does anyone know if both rounds of interviews are via zoom or in person?

From what I've learned so far, the panel will be via zoom and unit interview will be in-person.

Specializes in Emergency Department 2023.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to see how many of us applied for the above program?  Anyone know how their point system works?  I haven't seen much information about it, not even in their webinars.

Thanks!

Does anyone know when they send out invites to interview? I see that for cohort 40 the interviews are Jan 29-Feb 9th, but when do they let you know you are invited to interview?

I submitted my application last night. My portal says application is in process and under review however I did not get a confirmation email that my application was officially submitted. Is this okay?

I believe early January!

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. I'm not sure how the points system works either, but I plan on watching the YouTube recording they posted today/tomorrow. Hopefully they explain a bit more in there. Here's the recording in case you haven't seen it:

Following as well, thank you for starting the thread!

There was a good question on another thread, I hope they don't mind me sharing, but does anyone know how their application point system works?

I am not sure how the point system works, but according to the webinar, I believe what's scored on the application is the cover letter, resume (employment history, volunteer, nursing internship/externship), and the application questions (Part 3 for each prompt). Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the application questions can boost our application if we don't have many extracurricular activities. So I am guessing the application questions are worth the most points?

Patiently awaiting a response, and am super nervous!

From a LinkedIn post, it seems like they'll start sending out invitations to interview Jan 2
